Mindfulness Your Way

Mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us.

While mindfulness is something we all naturally possess, it’s more readily available to us when we practice on a daily basis.

Mindfulness is available to us in every moment, whether through meditations and body scans, or mindful moment practices like taking time to pause and breathe when the phone rings instead of rushing to answer it.

Mindfulness does not always have to be formal or complicated. It can be as simple as prayer or positive visualization to your favorite music.

Lit Mindfulness explores mindfulness in a modern, hip and culturally diverse manner. Check out these examples in my vlog below.

Mindfulness Through Music
Music is my favorite way to intentionally focus on relaxation and positive energy. Did you  know that music has frequencies that are either positive or negative? These frequencies can influence your brain. Studies show that babies (even in the womb), and even animals benefit from certain chords or musical sounds. Listening to jazz or classical music is a wonderful start to using music as mindfulness.  In order to get the full benefit of music as mindfulness it is important to remove distractions. Turning off the lights and listening through earphones is helpful. However, I found that using a star projector galaxy light that I purchased on Amazon helps enhance the musical experience for true relaxation and mindfulness. Try it and let me know how it goes. :)
Mindfulness & Grounding
Through Smell

For me, the smell of a neighbor burning a fire in a traditional fire place instantly gives me feelings of warmth, security and the festive memories of the holidays. The smell of coconut instantly reminds me of a tropical beach and fun  summer days. There is power in various scents. Mindfulness is intentionality! Intentionally utilize aromatherapy to help ease stress and anxiety when you feel overwhelmed.

Research supports that essential oils can be helpful in reducing stress and anxiety.

📌Rosemary Essential oil is excellent for stress relief when used as aromatherapy. It also helps with hair growth (when added to hair oils) and antibacterial cleaning (when added to water).

📌Orange Essential oil is very energizing and good for reducing feelings of depression and fatigue when used as aromatherapy.

📌Lemongrass Essential Oil has antibiotic and inflammatory properties. It is helpful with hair growth (when added to hair oils) and antibacterial cleaning (when added to water).

📌Lavender Essential Oil is excellent for stress relief, relaxation and as a sleep aid.

⚠️Please be responsible when considering essential oils!

⚠️When considering using essential oils, please consult your health care provider first. This video is not a prescription or suggestion for alternative medical care, as I am not a medical doctor.

⚠️Please consider all allergies and underlying health conditions when considering using essential oils.

⚠️Please dilute all essential oils in carrier oils (sweet almond) or water to prevent burning.

⚠️Essential oils should not be placed directly on skin, eyes or mouth.

⚠️Please do not use essential oils on children before speaking to a pediatrician first.
